Ah, the joys of study....

Hello there! It's difficult sometimes to remember that I'm supposed to write here. Well, this time I can educate you about what might be my favourite week of the year: Golden Week.
In Japan, Golden Week (often written as GW but pronounced "go-ruden weeku") is what happened when someone decided that they would put 3 public holidays together, creating one massive long weekend!

The first of these public holidays is tomorrow (Wednesday), which will be Constitution Day. It commemorates the adoption of the Japanese post-war Constitution in 1947. (I'm told that this constitution has stayed virtually unchanged to this day.)

The second day is Thursday, which will be literally "the People's Day Off." (I don't know how else to translate it!) I'm not sure why they have it exactly, but I'm not complaining.

The third day is Children's Day. It was founded in 1948 to promote the wellbeing of children, and to express gratitude to mothers everywhere. Every year, people put up fish flags like in this picture:

Anyway, check out these pictures of my room. This is the drum kit in my apartment. It's a perfect fit right between the bookshelf and the door to the kitchen. (Note the huge amount of packaging behind the drums! They really pack it well...)

Next we have me (my arm rather) cooking my dinner. The kitchen is really tiny so you can't have everything neatly laid out ready to use! It's a bit of a juggling act.

This is the bed and the TV.

One last thing: If you want, you can leave comments on this website, by clicking the comments link at the bottom of each post. Then, you can leave a short message, and if you want to leave your name, click the box labelled 'Other' and write your name.

That'll do for today. If you find some weird English in here, it's because I'm studying Japanese, and that means learning to speak like Yoda. I'm off to buy a mobile phone!
